The California Academy of Sciences, one of the oldest science institutions in the United States, conducts research that is world renown. In 2003, it attracted over 1 million visitors.

While its research division studies the effects human-induced climate change has already had on the earth's biodiversity, the new Academy's building will be a demonstration that global warming is a problem with achievable solutions.

This webpage, assembled by climatechangeeducation.org, highlights some of Cal Academy's outstanding work in global climate change education.

Man Made Meltdown
Coral Bleaching
Arctic Melting
Coral Hotspots

A big part of WHY the new Cal Academy will be a GREEN Building.  CAS is committed to conserving biodiversity. And, global warming is a major threat to species all over the planet.  The new design will demonstrate that we can drastically reduce our green house gas emissions in how we construct buildings
